Who we are
Take a look around and you’ll find that we’re a bunch of very ordinary people! But we all have one thing in common: we worship Jesus Christ as the Son of God.
Our aim is to be a loving and inclusive fellowship of people who know the Lord or who are exploring the Christian faith. We meet to worship, read the Bible, pray for each other and encourage each other to follow Jesus in our daily lives.
We call ourselves a Baptist Church, but we welcome anyone from any church background (or none at all!) to worship with us. We’re affiliated to the Baptist Union of Great Britain, and we’re a member of the Evangelical Alliance.
As you look around you’ll usually see Ian and Sue. Ian might be leading worship or preaching, or you are just as likely to see (and hear) him on the drums! Ian Hewes is our pastor, who joined us part-time in 1997, and then full-time in 2000. In fact, Ian was the church’s first full-time minister in our history! Ian and Sue have both put a lot of work into the church over the past eight years, and we have been approved for receiving a grant from the Baptist Union Home Mission for the past few years. Ian studied at London Bible College (now London School of Theology), just a few miles away in Northwood, and then at Spurgeon’s College in South London. Ian reverted to being part-time minister in 2009 as he is now Free Church Chaplain at Aylesbury, Wycombe and Amersham Hospitals.
From time to time we have students from the London School of Theology doing placements with us.
